Alexander Kropholler (1881-1973)

Two rare Dutch Art Nouveau chairs in walnut by the architect Alexander Kropholler (1881-1973). Stylized pattern of parrots and visible joints, exemplary for the rationalist structures of his contemporary H.P. Berlage. The serigraph pattern is renewed after the original by the graphic/painter Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita (1868-1944). This pattern can also be found in the “Beurs van Berlage” in Amsterdam in the board room of the stockbrokers. (see illustration). Designed: 1902. Condition: Good.
