A pair of bronze candlesticks with crawling snakes towering upwards. The firm of Ferdinand Barbedienne was a renowned bronze foundry from the middle of the 19th century. Next to their own designs, they also manufactured bronzes by artists such as Antoine Louis Barye (1796-1875) en Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). The company was after his death continued by his cousin up to 1952.
